CMP Media Launches The Remote Access Quarterly Report, Focusing on Connecting the Distributed Corporate Workforce

Custom Supplement to Run in Demographic of InformationWeek, InternetWeek and Network Computing

Manhasset, N.Y.—CMP Media (Nasdaq: CMPX) is introducing The Remote Access Quarterly Report to address the connectivity needs of today’s distributed corporate workforce. This custom supplement will focus on the exploding IT trend of employees using remote LAN access, with emphasis on replicated sites, small branch offices, corporate telecommuters and road warriors.

The Remote Access Quarterly Report is designed to be the key information source for IT managers integrating a remote-site strategy and a distributed workforce into their organizations. Its in-depth, editorially independent remote-site coverage will highlight the Internet, operating system issues, security, databases, hardware and peripherals. is designed to be the key information source for IT managers integrating a remote-site strategy and a distributed workforce into their organizations. Data from Forrester Research indicate that 26 percent of Fortune 1000 employees will be using remote LAN access in 2000, up from 16 percent in 1998—a compound annual growth rate of 28 percent. With this growth comes the need to more effectively handle remote corporate sites.

"The way that corporate America is viewing the remote site is changing. The need to move employees closer to customers—for reasons ranging from customer relationship issues to T&E and even recruitment costs—is driving those changes," said Evan Schuman, editorial director for CMP Custom Publishing. "We see smaller sites—often not much larger than 10 connected employees—becoming the remote-site sweet spot. Supporting sites that small is now practical because of recent technology changes, including IP services and high-bandwidth connection options such as xDSL and cable modems."

The quarterly will be a demographic supplement to InformationWeek, InternetWeek and Network Computing, reaching 287,000 unduplicated IT professionals who currently purchase remote access products. In addition, a custom Remote Access area on CMP’s TechWeb network will leverage the editorial coverage from the printed reports as well as aggregate relevant content from across all of the Business Technology Group’s on-line products. "No other product on the market today looks solely at the remote site phenomena and no other media company can deliver a platform for communicating this message that is comparable to CMP’s," said Pamala McGlinchey, director of marketing solutions for CMP’s Business Technology Group.

The premiere issue—scheduled to debut in August—will focus on "The Business Case for Remote Sites." Future features will be "Remote Site Hardware Strategies," October 1999; "Remote Site Software Strategies," January 2000; and "Unique Road Warrior Challenges," April 2000.
